I've been on a mission over the past few days to try and determine what type of brake fluid is used (from the factory) in my 2016 WRX. The manual says both DOT3 & DOT4 will work. It also says not to mix the two. But nowhere in the manual does it state the kind of fluid it has from the factory. So, how am I supposed to "top up" the fluid?

I've browsed the interweb and forums and have not found a definitive answer.

Can anyone help me out with this seemingly simple question - which type of brake fluid does my 2016 WRX ship with?

Thanks much in advance!

I’ve no clue but since you are in doubt, use DOT4. It is miscible with other DOT4 but also DOT3 and it will meet the highest specified standard.
