Was looking at buying a 2014 sti today but was put off by a rattle/ticking which increased with revs. The oil was over the max and it looked like an additive was clinging to the cap which was sticky. The guy said he was running it on standard unleaded?. The rattle came from the front right of engine. I assume this is bad news even though it should be under warranty. I have a video of anyone wants to hear it, cheers.

I second the running. The ticking from the engine bay would be enough for me to turn it down. But the owner stating he has been running 87 octane!!!??? Wow..... He must not be very bright.
