Well mobile one and Royal purple with oil change intervals twice the factory required mileage is your problem.

Understood, thank you for the reply. Didn't know these thing were that finicky until all this.My 2011 says it right in the book under heavy use or whatever.
No, poor oil and long changes are the culprit. Spun bearings are nothing new to Subaru. They are caused by low oil, poor oil, long changes. It's pretty clear cut.

If you're concerned about 5w40 rotella, then stick with AmsOil or Motul. I personally use Rotella T6 and change every 3k miles. The ONLY oil I would feel comfortable with going 7500 miles on is AmsOil, and I would check it every 2k miles for consumption to assure there is still adequate amounts.Guys also say 0w40 or 5w40 Rotella but thats not spec weight either. So its a whole bunch of garbage either way.
In my case both the salesman who owns a WRX and the Service Manager recommended doing the oil change more frequently than every 6,000 miles . . . of course the cynic in me could have been thinking it was a way to drum up more business, but most folks here recommended the same. Sure, it costs a bit more right now, but having the peace of mind that comes with knowing I am doing everything I can to keep this car going for the long haul is worth every penny to me.Do you guys follow the severe driving conditions for all turbo Subarus? When I bought my 2016 with the FA motor, the salesman did not mention it. I also emailed Subaru of America about the OCI, and they said this...Subaru of America would recommend an oil change every 6 months/6,000 miles, with more frequent oil changes recommended if you drive under ‘severe driving conditions’. I mentioned in the email that I drive a 2016 WRX, and this is what they told me. But if the general consensus around here is to follow the severe driving conditions schedule, I will do so.
