I've been driving my 2012 WRX for since it was new in 2012 and loved it but one big gripe has always been that the power steering is way too light. Too much assist. I understand that for rally racing, track driving, that it probably allows quicker steering input but I don't race or track the car. I much prefer heavier steering with a lot less assist, with a heavier feel.

I found a company turnone-steering.com and they say it's not that the pressure is higher when the assist is high. it's that the steering fluid flow rate is higher due to a smaller restrictor in the pump input line (or in the pump body itself). They sell several restrictor orifice fittings that you install into the inlet of the body and then connect the hose to it, but they don't have one specifically for the WRX.

Has anyone else found a solution to the horribly light steering?
