I have a stock 2011 WRX with 114,xxx miles, that recently had an overheat issue. The local shop that I took it too (that I trust) said it's showing signs of needing a head gasket, and that the shops around town can't mill one to the specs needed for the engine. They suggested to replace the engine. any advice would be hlepful

If you want to spend 15k on a head gasket replacement go ahead and replace the engine.

Or find a better shop. I would look around your area for a performance shop that deals with Subaru.

Okay, will do. Any idea what a head gasket replacement might cost?
