I was just wondering if anyone is running a lightweight pulley and if so what brand and if they like it? Also i have heard from a few people that they can be bad for your engine in the long run?

Lots of people really seem to dislike them. Others run them without issue. I don't see why bother with a lightweight pulley, there's much better starting mods to be done.
what would you recommend for a 2011 Wrx with a Q300 cat back I want to get a mod but something less expensive

I would do some shifter bushings or a sway bar or two. These are low cost, easy to do mods that really improve the feeling of the car and give you a good sense of value for money. If you are after power alone, save up for a access port or similar and give stage 1 a try. Personally, I am saving power for last. I am doing shifting/handling upgrades first.
And what do people dislike about them? Cuz i have heard good and not to much bad so i just cant decide if i want one

yea i want the Cobb AP real bad but $$ and i have some shifter bushing coming my way for xmas:)

So sway bars are a good upgrade
So sway bars are a good upgrade
That and some good tires & your car will greatly improve cornering. But the sways & endlinks will do miracles to limit bodyroll.
everyone i know runs one. not one issue ever. i have over 40k on mine.

FYI go perrin, stock 5.4 lb, GS 2.3 lb, perrin 1.7 lb

Yeah just ordered the GS one from RallysportDirect, they had it on for 93.00 on Black Friday plus I had a 10% off coupon, so I couldn't resist haha Stage 1 Currently, not sure If i may just get an e-tune for my stage 1(got sf intake for upcoming christmas) or if I may just get a DP in the spring afraid if I go DP, the cars value will drop when I trade it in on my STi.

To the OP, get the pulley if you want man, its relatively cheap and only improves a few things, mainly it will help increase mpg slightly in DD cases, but it also DOES help acceleration, I mean you take off 70% of the weight, that energy required to spin the OE pulley at 6500rpms as opposed to the GS one is obviously much greater. So by switching pulleys that extra energy can be used to put power to the wheels. Obviously you won't notice a huge difference, but as you continue to mod and power the car, its effective use will increase.
I've had the Kartboy one for about 10K miles with zero issues. HOWEVER, as stated above, sways and endlinks (or a short shifter) are much better and noticeable early mods.
I have a Perrin crank pulley, and it runs fine.

+1 to a short-shifter with bushings, or sway bars and endlinks.
Nevermind early Xmas for me. My friend got me an AEM intake and my gf got me a Cobb AP I'm good for a bit Haha
Your girlfriend bought you an AP??? haha sounds like a keeper
