Here is my issue, i have a 2011 SWP premium and my buddy has a 2011 limited when i saw his projector set come on i was in love... i decided at that moment that was going to be my next investment for my vehicle. the factory HID Kit.

I go to the dealer and they finally find the headlights that aren't a' la carte accessories and come back with they are $780 a piece give or take some change, once again i was willing to invest as much as required for this upgrade. my service manager tells me he will have to do some research that i may not be able to install these if they have to tap into any wires it will VOID my factory warranties. WTF? you mean to tell me you cant install these ...if this is true please someone tell me.

If this is true i seriously may think hard about getting rid of this car, if these certified techs cant wire headlights into a factory car from a OEM state there really isnt anything i want them doing to my car. Am i wrong for feeling this way ?

Any one who can potentially make me feel better bout this id def appreciate that.

Any unauthorized parts can cause a warranty claim denial, if that part caused the problem.

You can sometimes find used lights in the classified section. I sold one of my '05 STI headlights for $150 a few years back, with nothing more than a minor cosmetic scuff on the housing (didn't affect lighting/pattern).

Why would that make you get rid of the car? Just go to another shop.

I gotta tell you - that is a weird statement. You would get rid of your brand new AWD turbo hot hatch because you can't get HIDs installed in it by the dealer? Are you kidding me? What did you buy the car for ... to be impressed by the lighting? Go buy a chandelier and marvel at the bright glittery lights.

With that out of my system, 2 quick points:

1. There are multiple aftermarket HID kits that can be installed and they work great. Hit search and you'll find a number of threads.
2. If the dealer installed it and does stand by that it might impact the warranty, it could only impact claims that relate directly to the wiring that was altered, and nothing else. They can't deny a engine claim because of the HID wiring changes.

Mostly I'd say try another dealer or go aftermarket ... or buy a discoball.

First off here is my reason for the rant - if a dealer tells you that they cant install an oem light system, nor can i bc it would void the warranty ... You dnt think thats bs ? Im sayin if the dealer cant wire a set of headlights that should be plug ad play... What can they do ?

I love my car, im just used to Hid's and i want em. Enough said. Ill make it happen. The word NO doesnt fly in my world.

The warranty information you were given by the dealership is incorrect. As I said earlier:

If you have a swaybar break or your clutch prematurely fails, the dealership cannot deny the claim because you installed OE HIDs. If you have issues with your electrical system, and they can reasonably attribute it to the installation of your HIDs, they have every right (just like every other car manufacturer) to deny the claim.

Agreed- i am a rockford fosgate 12v specialist and i know that consumer protection laws and everything that coincides with that... Etc

So its more of a rant that doesnt have a home i just hoped everyone would understand the point.

That being if they cant wire their own OEM ****. What can they really do.
