Does anyone know if the 2008 wrx has an in tank fuel filter or if it's in the engine bay and I'm just missing it? I've looked up pictures on google but it's not where they are. Looking for the part online is giving me mixed signals too. In tank filters seem to stop at 2007 from what I've seen and nothing comes up when I try to find the external kind.. I've replaced 2 fuel filters on other cars I've had so I'm really confused why I cant find it unless it is in fact inside the tank hiding.

Thanks ahead of time and please bare with me I'm new to subaru/wrx maintenance

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm just not sure why the part is listed for 07 and under along with the YouTube videos I've seen but nothing for 08.
The 07 oe in tank filter is only $70 on amazon so that's definitely do-able if it's the same part.

The 07 and 08 are entirely different vehicles.

I think I found a good video and finally a filter for the 08. Just happens to be cheaper too! I just wish it was in the bay but shouldn't be too bad
