Hey there,

Recently I brought a 2001 wrx jdm (I'm from new Zealand) I only brought it a week ago. To restart general maintenance and to make sure it had been done a friend and I changed oil, fuel filter and oil filter. My question is did we over fill it. We filled it to the factory specs and let it sit for a bit and turned it over etc, the oil level was still too low, we added more and used almost the entire 5L bottle of oil. Is this way way to much? The reason I'm asking is its now (I suspect) spun a bearing. This happened the same day we changed the oil. The guy lied to me about a lot of things on this car, was the engine just bad or did I cause this.

It's far more likely the engine was bad. I sincerely doubt you caused this. You did not overfill.

Thanks for you reply, you can imagine I'm sure how worried I was thinking I had destroyed my engine by something so silly

Bad engines are super duper common in JDM cars or front clips
