Does it go away when the engine is warmed up to operating temperature? Because that doesn't sound like slap.

I have a video of my 2001 WRX with what sounds to be piston slap or rod knock? I can't differentiate, if anyone would be able to advise that would be amazing.

All the cars ive heard that have piston slap don't sound nearly that scary. That does sound like a bottom-end problem to me. You can hear the speed of the knock increase when you turn the throttle body in the second video a little bit which is textbook rod-knock.
