I'd be concerned with the pickup itself rather than the pump.
11mm or 12mm? oil pump
hello! so I'm doing a build with my 09 wrx and the block is currently sitting at the machine shop getting heat treated/ honed/ cleaned! its taken a lil longer than expected so I have had some time to save up for another oil pump. iv looked around the webs and have found very conflicting advice...
the internals:
99.5mm 8.9/1 weisco pistons
h beam bryan crower rods
and other timing belt/ water pump stuff that doesn't matter to this thread.
anyways. is it worth getting the JDM 12mm oil pump or is it over kill and just stick with the 11m sti oil pump?
EDIT: I don't expect to be going over 450hp

thatll be upgraded before I actually start getting up to 450. that doesn't require me to drop the engine tho. but that will be upgraded, your right.

true. but money, where its at right now, is better spent on an oil pump rather than a pick up. I can replace the pick up/ pan in 3 hours a few months from now. either way, 11mm or 12mm? haha
Realistically you need the pickup more than you need a different pump. The pump is piece of mind, but those pickup tubes fail a lot more than cars running out of lubrication from the pump... as SD Already stated.true. but money, where its at right now, is better spent on an oil pump rather than a pick up.
