So my 2009 wrx ej255 spun a bearing. And I'm considering sti swap. Mainly for the 207 version 7 or 8. Because there is a shop in my town that sells alot of there with about 45k miles. 4k$ CDN comes with the engine long block, 6speed trans, rear diff, axles, ECU , turbo, intercooler and all that stuff attached to the engine. Ready fully to just be dropped in. Obviously not specifically for my body.

I'm wondering if it can be done. And what else might possibly need to be modded to fit it in?

Or should I just get a long block ej255 again or switch to the 257.
Considering also getting a built short block for the 255 with forged components and using my heads and all if they didn't get damaged.

Budgets around 6k $ wondering whoch swaps or builds would be the best and or easyest and the pricing on such builds/swaps. Generaly I want a block that can hold about 370-400whp. So down the line I don't have to put in block work again

Anything can be done. It's just going to cost you more than the cars worth. Jdm engines are highly hit or miss. It the last few months there have been several threads with doa jdm engines.

A brand new shortblock for your car is 2k. Itll run like the day it was built.

Just got a quote from a specialist in my area. To get a 257 short block and rebuild it properly its 14k$ here cuz everything has to be sent to America for it to be refreshed. I'm gonna ask other shops think there's 2 other subi specialist in my area.

I brand new stock short block is 2k. Brand new, from Subaru. No rebuilding required.

Ya that shops deff over pricing but then again it's for a more built short block 257. And I'm in Canada so I have to import the block. And then send heads to America forna refresh. I'm prob not gonna do a rebuild because I feel like my heads and cam gears are in bad shape. I think I'm just gonna find a long block 255 or 257 used with like 60k for 5-6k. Because I also want do turbo and clutch with it. Cars at 140k km I can hear my turbo is dying from the spool and I can smell it and the cluch doesn't feel consistent. I think my diff is dying too. But that's cheep. It was making a really high pitch whine/ringing sound right before engine went. Almost sounded like ringing in me ears after a firework. I just fear ring land failure on the 257

Also just an idea. Ls1 swap? My guy just did the swap into his m3 all custom his self. I'm sure he can do it into a subi?
