So i went to look at this 05 wrx today and looked at the undercarriage and saw this. Im new to subies dont know if this is something normal or not? It was on both driver and passenger side. Also smelt a tid of burning oil should that be any warning? Didnt notice any leaks or anything. Thanks in advance

Only a few cars still use lumber in their chassis. Subaru is not among them. That looks like somebody needed a means of rapidly raising/lowering the car and did some lateral thinking to devise novel hard points. I'm both impressed and appalled at the same time.

Find a car that is stock, fully metal and plastic, and has a full service history.

If I'm honest, I'm not above doing that sort of thing myself -- but I'd not consider it a permanent solution and I'd not sell the car like that.
