I was in my aunts Tahoe tonight and I pull up to this wrx...It was stock from the looks of things and I look over and kinda give him the head nod:wiggles: ...

Light turns green and I lay the hammer down on the torquey Tahoe and it took the wrx ( he didnt launch, I think he rolled) up to 75mph to catch me...I was kinda upset, my friend in the car was like damn...

I would have thought he wouldve caught me sooner ?

Eh...chalk one up for the tahoe ;) ...I braked when he started to pull:tongue:

Aint I a stinker...

that's odd...a girl I know has a Tahoe and it isn't very impressive...

But, with that said, it takes a lot of power to chase down and pass almost any car that is going WOT and has taken the jump on you. 160ish whp won't get a car up and running in too big a hurry. :wiggles:

That happened to me when I was at a light one time.

I was sitting there and a Jeep Grand Cherokee was next to me. I didn't think anything of it, but when the light turned green, he floored it and took off. By the time I realized what was happening and for me to floor it, it took me to about 60mph to catch up to him. It was funny :wiggles:

Good example of a vehicle that "feels" fast but isn't. My friends Oldmobile 98 with the POS 3.8L and maybe 160hp felt like a beast off the line but it probably ran to 60mph is 10+ seconds (similar to the Tahoe?).

My Civic EX (back in 99) kept up with a tahoe one time. Its kinda hard to believe that a WRX had a problem catching up sooner... Maybe that kid was fumbling with the stick

Same thing happened to me it was a grand cheerokee V8 had exhaust and tinted windows and nice rims. I was in my 1988 Turbo Supra (ran a [email protected]) the Jeep Floored it off the line at the light and i didn't launch my car, but i did try to catch him and there was no catching him, i would have had to go to 100mph if i wanted to catch him.

Moral: Don't race if your not gonna go from the beginning. Playing catch up sucks and proves nothing. IT only gives the other guy a false sense of hope!

so a stock wrx loses 57 hp thru its drivetrain????thats like a 30% loss.... and i dont think a tahoe does 0-60 in 5.5ish.. even if the wrx didnt launch.. a wrx will smoke your shizer.... if it smells like a rat, and it looks like a rat, then by golly its a rat.. sorry dude, i dont buy your story

I buy it only if the WRX took a while to really get on the throttle. Of course if the Tahoe took up WOT several seconds before the Rex, it's just simple kinematics that it will take a certain time and distance for the second car to pass the first, regardless of power difference. All things being equal, a WRX will slaughter a Tahoe in any contest of speed, no contest. But I'm sure everyone knows that. :)

You are flaming the wrong person...

I have posted many kills and I do not lie. I own a wrx and know quite a bit about it.

The wrx..not impreza 2.5 rs was running.
He did not launch..in order to receive the 5.5...which is damn hard to get anyway.
He did take until 75 mph to catch me...

these are all the things I KNOW ...I dont post garbage nor lies...

thanks

oh and txs stated 180whp but thats a real healthy stocker...most are around 170-175 depending on the dyno... I've seen some low 160's on dyno dynamics...

Oh and what the hell is a shizer ?

Absolutely...

You know a stock wrx is really not that fast...from a roll at least.

Its prolly around 6.5 to 60 at least from a 5 mph roll, and even then thats in a perfect world. I've been in stock wrx's, I owned at one point a stock wrx ..and its not that quick. I love my car but those are just the facts.

i didnt call your story garbage or a lie, i just think its flawed, granted a stock wrx is not the fastest thing in the world, but it will still smoke a tahoe withouth a launch.. keep in mind that even tho a tahoe may have 345 lb/trq(or so)...it also weighs about 5000 lbs, the power differential doesnt make up for the weight difference... ive done my homework and found that tahoes run a high 16 sec quarter mils at 85 mph.. now i know that even with the crappiest launch a wrx will definitely run better than a 16 sec quartermile.. with the tahoe having a 10.50-10.9 sec 0-60.. while a stock wrx should be able to beat that 0-60 time while driving normal.. your may be thinking those times are damn slow.. and thats cuz they are, what your claiming is that it took 14-15 seconds for a stock wrx to catch up to your tahoe traveling at 75 mph...i respect your opinion but i think its flawed, i just want you to respect mine

What's so hard to believe about the story? If a WRX doesn't launch, its a mid 15 second car, and would probably trap at around 92 miles an hour. You say that a tahoe runs a high 16 second 1/4 mile at 85 miles per hour.

The WRX had to play catch up against a car which isn't really all that much slower than it is from a roll, so I think the story makes perfect sense.

Just my 2 cents. If the 'rex launched, the Tahoe would of been about 3 bus-lengths back, but from a roll, it's a completely different story.

I hate when that happens. I was tinkering around with one of my friends in his durango R/T. I was trying to take off nice to not rip a new one off the line and give him a little hope. I ended up bogging the crap out of it and by the time I started to really move he already 3 cars on me.
