Photo upload

Files deleted from "attachments" on the profile page are showing up on the File upload manager pop up when I try to upload new photos.Even though the photos have been deleted the "Attachment Statistics" show that I have insufficient space ,the file manager still shows the deleted photos,hence preventing me from adding any new ones.

My question is,is this a glitch or is there any way to delete photos from the file manager since I don't see that option?
