    Thumbs up Daniel Stern Lighting

A big for Daniel Stern Lighting. http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ I just received a pair of Narva H1 48334 Rangepower 50 (Osram Silverstar equivalent) for low beams and Toshiba 9011 HIR-1 for high beam. Both are outstanding bulbs, especially the 9011.

The 55W Narvas are noticeably brighter and whiter with no blue to tint to merely fool you into thinking they are brighter. They really are. I am not saying they are STi HID bright, but are surely brighter than the Subaru OEM German made Phillips H1 12258LL. At $13.50 each they are way cheaper than an HID conversion.

The 65W Toshiba 9011 have an infrared coating on the inside of the halogen bulb to heat up the filament and burn brighter. Quack posted this about these bulbs a while back: 9005 vs 9011 (HIR) pics These are amazing bulbs! They are almost too bright at times as they light up oncoming reflective roads signs very well. To use a 9011 in place of a 9005, there is a small bit of filing of the one tab on the bulb’s base needed to get these to fit in an HB3 base – it is easy.

Daniel was great to deal with over the phone. In the market for bulbs? Give him a call.

I've got the 9011's in- they are great. I'm going to get the +50 H1's now- I didn't realize they actually boosted lumens from 1550 -> 1795 not a bad bump

    The 9011's bump the 9005's from 1700 to 2350!

How long have the 9011s lasted for you so far? Supposedly good for 320 hours.

    The Narvas are visibly brighter.

I've had mine about a year and a half. In MT we get to use the highbeams a lot too - not lots of traffic

Got them the other day- very nice difference in the low beams

My hands are either too big or I'm uncooridanted (or both) but I had to slide the battery back and remove the intake scoop to install the bulbs

I did the same. Scoop was easy, the battery was less than fun.

I've dealt with him in the past when buying various Euro-spec bulbs for my VW, he really knows his stuff. I began retrofitting some yellow-lensed fogs into my MK4 Jetta's lower grilles but wound up trading it in before I finished due to a fender bender. He gave me some great info before I even bought anything!

That reminds me, I've been meaning to order a set of 55W Tungsram Gold H1's for my WRX's fogs. In addition to the Lamin-X yellow film it should give me a fairly bold yellow...

Yes, but his all-time greatest performance was the crook in Home Alone. He sells light bulbs on the side.
