Arrow 2002 Subaru WRX Wagon - 2,200 ORIG MILES!! Bad Motor SELL/TRADE (NORTH SAN DIEGO)

This 2002 silver 5-speed AWD WRX Wagon has only 2,200 documented original miles since new, when it was driven off road and the oil cooler was damaged, allowing the motor to run without oil which resulted in a serious rod knock.

Due to the cost of a new factory replacement engine in 2002, the car was declared a total loss by the insurance company and was sold off to a wholesale dealer with a salvage title. It never suffered any collision damage or repair.

The car was stored indoors until I purchased it in 2012, when a 2004 short block was procured and given a stock rebuild and upgraded with ARP head studs and Mahle pistons. The car was also given a beautiful brand new factory silver paint job this year and was only driven about 200-300 miles, when the current motor developed a rod knock and was parked. The car is currently registered, recently passed smog, was given a 4-wheel alignment and appears brand new inside and out. Truly immaculate. It is completely stock with the exception of aftermarket sway bars front and rear, and a brand new high-dollar Pioneer double DIN touch screen stereo with less than an hour of use. And roof rack yet to be attached, sitting in trunk.

It is just sitting there in my driveway under its car cover, and I am not going to go through another motor rebuild, so just install your motor and you will have a brand new WRX Wagon...... truly rare find, and difficult to assess a value -- $6000 obo. Prefer $, but will consider trades, particularly for a Collector Car, Corvette, Classic, Muscle Car or ? No Projects.

Car is in San Marcos/Escondido area of North San Diego County.

Hi Drew -- 100% true Come on over. Can update with pics this evening. Would you like the newspaper on the hood? Or a picture of me holding a paper that says "Hi Drew" hand written while sitting in the drivers seat? This is no joke or scam

    Welcome SUBASAURUS!

I apologize for the frosty welcome. Unfortunately, forum scams are all too common and you haven't been around long enough to build up some reputation. That said, posting pictures and some non-personal paperwork of the work done on the car will go a long way. Best of luck on the sale, and welcome to the club!

    It is quite a story...

You seem to be a bit more responsive than a prototypical scammer, however.

Please post some pics. I'd like to see it, even if it is on the complete opposite side of the nation from me.

So a $20k+ brand new car was declared a total loss because of needing a 5k engine?

Thanks Rambo, yea, understandable ... PS everyone -- I only accept Western Union to Zimbabwe haha (joke!!) Late day today, will give it a photoshoot when the sun's out tomorrow. Some receipts/paperwork too.. Should I receive it as a good thing this is being received with disbelief? Is it related to the asking price? I don't know how to price it... Any PMs with advice on reasonable asking price is genuinely appreciated.

    Agree lytlec :b

And yea devilfluff ... painful story for me. You don't even know all of it... ~200-300 miles was from getting the engine through checks for smog and procrastinating on getting it registered since I was able to snag dealer plates from the family friend we got the car from. ...Then literally screwed the new plate on it at the DMV and ended up stranded at a Subway on the drive home waiting for a tow truck....don't make me relive it

    Yes Monk_Knight, salvage title

(PS - also includes the original factory radio. multi-disc)
