Anybody try this with an '08-'09 4ATM?
I'd assume you'd turn the VDC off of course. Thanks....

wow you just told someone to neutral drop their auto to launch it?
do yourself a favor, if u wanna launch an auto hold down the brakes with the car in drive apply throttle until you feel the torque converter lock (your rpms will stop going go up on the tach) then this occurs quickly release the brakes and punch the throttle.
brake pads are alot cheaper than a new transmission and neutral dropping it causes alot of stress for it.
also using my method don't do it all the time either, you never want to launch your car over and over again.
Whats with the Baywatch shopping guide?????????
I did, with my 09 Impreza 2.5GT. Since there's much more low end TQ, its much, much easier to launch than my 02 WRX 4eat. The rpms rise quickly, and the tires break loose when you launch. I feel less afraid to do it (comparedto my 2002) b/c it only takes 2-3 seconds to reach 3000 rpms (you really don't need to go much higher). You have to turn off VDC, b/c when the tires break loose, it will cut off power and slow you down.
I posted a video about this in this forum, but you can't see the tach in the clip.

I've got a 2002 wrx (not an sti) and I really want to try this but my car has got 106k and is relatively stock (cold air kit w/cat back exhaust) but I'm kind of worried of transmission problems if I do this even once... Do you think it would damage anything if I tried it once or no? Thanks for the info! --Zac
