When I pull the latch to pop my trunk nothing happens. I was told by the previous owner I just need to install a new trunk spring. Did a search and found no threads words of wisdom would be awesome.

There is no trunk spring. There are two torsion bars. If your car has not had the actual trunk lid replaced or a wing added, it is highly unlikely the torsion bars have failed.

Have you changed trunk lids or added a wing?

By the way, if nothing happens when you pull the latch then the issue isn't the torsion bars. The lock should disengage whether the torsion bar is there, is too weak, or is entirely absent. Check the lock first, plus the inside safety release.

If you are interested in checking the torsion bars see this thread for their correct mounting and orientation:

The lock is in the trunk. There is a latch. Is it not disengaging?
