Maybe a coincidence but I thought about it today morning.He must have used a Dremel to cut out the letters & used clear/colored acrylic to cover it up.You would then have to find a small bulb holder,remove both side panels of the dash trims,fish the wire to the steering wheel & splice into the headlight wiring.Or he may have run the wring through gap in the fender into the engine bay to the headlight wiring.

Too much of a hassle.
