I've been in my Seattle house since 2006, and with no garage, just with a temporary shelter, from Harbor Freight. All though served its purpose, by providing some shelter from the rain and elements, it was extremely light, and any wind would just blow it away. (in fact i have a ding to prove it FTL). In my mind, I wanted to build the ultimate garage, 4 bay, 2 deep, tall enough for a lift.......dreams...*sigh* well i decided to build at least a carport. Pretty inex*****ive. I would estimate around $450 depending how you want to do the roof.
Here's the plan i used: Single Carport free plans
Big shout out to Noel for helping out with alot, without him, I couldnt most of it!!!! here are the results:
Temporary Shelter from Harbor Freight
Cleared area
Material Arrives
Metal Brackets bolt to concrete
Posts Up
All boxed up with 2x8
2x6 rafters
Corner bracing
Roofing up
All cleaned up
All shingled up
Enough room for the garbage cans on the side
Had some left over wood to make a little bench

Now just brick up the side away from the house slowly and you'll eventually have it completely enclosed.
