    Accessport question

    I have no plans to modify my cars engine performance in any way shape or form. No CAE, no exhaust changes, no fuel injector changes, nothing. Is there any use of an AccessPort even if it's just to see different things about the car? Or no? Also I always hear the term unmarried and all that. What's that mean? And I assume the Cobb V3 gives more readouts or something compares to V2. I mean I'm all for "look at that readout". But not sure a few hundred is worth a few minutes of "that's cool".

    Pointless, IMO. And what fun are you going to get from performance readouts when you're "Struggling to have fun in my STi"?

    The AP can be used to flash a stage 1 map with no hardware changes, as well as custom maps if you get your car tuned. According to Cobb, you can get up to 5% more HP and 16% more torque on 93 gas. Throttle response might also be improved as well. YMMV depending on altitude and atmospheric conditions.

    Very pointless unless your modding your car. Its not worth the 650 for you in this situation.

    O I know I'll have fun when I get out and drive the thing. But babying it till I get the nail out of the rear tire and get clear bra and opticoat. I held off on the later because of the former.

    If you want to go Stage 1 for cheap do what I did and buy a tactrix and torqued performances stage 1 map. Totally improves the experience and you will no longer be killing your car with the stock crap tune. For both those items it will only cost you around $250. Love my tactrix.

    Get the V3 access port. Raven Logics is right about its operation. I have had several cars with a Cobb tuner.
    The married and un married refers to pairing and un pairing the Cobb tuner with a car.
    Example, if you have a Cobb AP tuner paired to your car the tuner only works with that car. However you can un pair or un marry tuner be following the on screen directions and sell it or use it on another car.

    Just the ability to use the tuner as a gauge for performance, and to monitor your tune(Including stage1) makes it a very useful tool. If your looking for a conservative mod AP Stage 1 is the way to go.
    You can add more things to your mod list as you go along. Start reading peoples Build threads, they are a great source of info. Plus it shows you how different people have taken there cars in different directions.

    If you're not doing anything to your car, you don't need readouts of anything...

    Though an Accessport would be good to go Stage 1...certainly makes driveability a bit better than stock, even if that was the only "mod" you did.

    Additionally... The COBB AP helps with your MPG too. It's worth it.

    You can get the same read outs and clear engine codes with a $10 bluetooth dongle.. if you're not planning on tuning the car, I would go with the cheaper option.

    If not modding just get a boost gauge and call it a day. You'll use that (for fun) more than anything an AP would show you on a stock car.

    If you don't mod, don't waste your money on one. Even the stock tune isn't with the cost IMO. Any tune when you take the car to a dealer could be problematic.

    He already has a boost guage since he's in a 2015. I would be interested to hear about potential gains from members who havn't done any hardware upgrades. Ill be getting my WRX hopefully before next year.

    While I plan to do some upgrades down the road maybe next summer, I thought I might get the AP and get acquainted with it as well as give it the stock tune. I just would like to hear peoples actual experience versus graphs from Cobb, or reviews from people like Subispeed who obviously want to sell as many as they can.

    Anyone tune their car at stock with the AP?

    I have no clue from where you got these numbers...
