    hypothetically speaking ...

Let's just say you take your car and get it tuned on the new shop dyno. Give them your laptop to install a protune, along with your AP. You get a call saying your laptop fried and your AP was connected to your laptop, while doing the tune. A few nights later, you go to update your AP on another laptop (obviously to finish it) and it won't turn on. Try 3 different wires, two laptops and nothing. BUT!! it turns on fine while connected to the car. A. If I was a betting girl, it got somehow damaged along with the laptop. B. Do I have a slight reason to be pissed the f*** off because not only did my laptop fry, but my AP got jacked in the process. I'm feeling indifferent about this one..

Sounds like you had some really bad luck

I would ask Cobb for their advice as a starting point as they might have seen this before.

This. That shop owes you a new laptop and a new AP. Are they a Cobb licensed Protuner?

Hypothetically speaking you got hosed. That shop screwed up!

Sorry to hear it went that badly

Contact Cobb and see what they recommend. Call the shop and ask to speak with the owner, explain what happened and see what they want to do to make it right.

This. It sounds like the tuner isn't licensed for Cobb ATP, so they tuned your car with ATR on your laptop. Shady...

They might have taken the laptop to install the tune onto the device?

**** luck, that's what that is. Or a shop who doesn't know what they are doing. As everyone else said, if the shop is tuning your car they should be using their own equipment, not yours.... I do believe this said "shop" owes you a new laptop, possibly a new AP, and a seriously good explanation as to how this happened. You're lucky this didn't go any further as, with the way it seems things were going, they very likely could have bricked your ECU.

A good shop would use their own equipment to do that.
