Have not been around the forum for a while. Over the weekend I went to Cobb Stage 2 (Accessport Severe Low Waste Gate 93 3.11 Map, SF Intake, Cobb TBE) from Stage I (Accessport Low Waste Gate 93 3.11 Map, SF Intake, stock TBE). This is on a 2012 WRX.
I initially had the Low Waste Gate map when I did the switch to Stage 2 (was getting slight overboost on standard map at stage 1). On one of my initial test runs, I hit 20 psi with the Low Waste Gate (not logging at the time), so I switched to Severe. I always run 93 Octane, either from Sunoco or local Tops gas stations (Tops uses Reid Petroleum, I know the Reid family and trust their product).
The included logs here are with about 100 miles on the Severe Low Waste Gate tune. The current temp is ~24 F.
The first log is a 2nd gear pull, as I want to keep my driving mostly legal.
This log looks pretty good to me, boost is climbing and tapering as I expect it would, there are only a couple instances of slight Feedback Knock and no Fine Knock Learn.
Based on this video, I am happy with this pull. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjEGZ-4dsDY
The second log has me more concerned.
This log was take directly after the first, as I drove along a 55mph highway and a 65 mph highway.
The concerning bit is way down around row 611. I was anticipating the increase in speed limit from 55 to 65. I down shifted to 3rd from 5th and accelerated. it appears that I overshot the top limit of my boost target (19.5 psi) from 3900 to 4900 rpm.
Everything else during the overboost looks okay based on what I know. The wastegate was only at around 50% duty cycle, so I am hoping that this is something that can be corrected with more duty cycle during these conditions.
My plan is to get the car protuned at Innovative Tuning in a little while, once my bank account recovers a little bit, but if need be I have no problem affording the protune asap. Pretty much I am hoping that you guys can take a look at this and give me your 2 cents about these logs, as I am still a relative novice with the logs.
For the meantime, I will avoid WOT down shifts to limit the chance of overboost.
