    Do I need a tune??

I just put in a carless down pipe and a SRS type x cat back exhaust. If I don't get a tune will it be bad for my car?

In that case, you do need a tune to run an aftermarket downpipe without damaging the engine on your car.

You can do it yourself with a Cobb AP. The map is set up for a catted DP. I've been running a catless DP with stage 2 Cobb map for a year with no problems though.

Either a Cobb access port or a pro tune from an experienced shop.
Where are you located and what are your future plans for the car?
Cobb AP will run about $350-600 used/new a pro tune is anywhere from $300-500 but you won't be able to make any further modifications to the motor.
A re-tune could cost $100-$300 really just depends on where you go.

Depending on what else is done to the car. Cobb only has tunes available on their site for an a downpipe and one of their intakes. If you have anything more than that then it may not be the best idea to buy one. In saying that the tuners around who use Cobb want me to buy an accessport so they can make a map for it. So you have $600 for the AP and a couple more hundred for the labor to be tuned.

There's a sticky on engine management, actually there's a ton of them around. I suggest you read it and reply back after that. Also read the "first mods: what to do and not to do" thread as well. Welcome to the club you need a tune.
