    Tactrix Vs. T.O.A.D.

So I've started doing some upgraded to my 06 wrx tr (cobb intake 3 inch turbo back and downpipe) and i have plans to do more work in the future. I'm familiar with the AP but I don't think it is a good fit for me. I was looking at the tactrix cable and its associated software when I came across this on amazon.

Amazon.com: Total OBD & ECU Auto Diagnostics Software (TOAD) + ELM327 USB Cable: Software

its about 60 bucks cheaper and gets great reviews but I don't know if it is going to be able to do all the things i want. My car has about 110k miles on it so the extra diagnostic capabilities seems like an added bonus. I would love some advice or alternate suggestions.

The Tactrix will flash the ECU. The Scantool you posted will likely not.

I've found where someone says that they used it to remap their ecu, is that different from flashing?

Look on ebay or in the Nasioc classifieds for a used Tactrix cable. Find em for $130-$150 and they'd be good to go.

Additionally, you can find the older 1.3 cable for even cheaper used (typically ~$100 or less used). You don't need the CAN functionality for an '06 WRX, so you don't require the OP2.0 cable. The one benefit the 2.0 cable offers is standalone logging, although I prefer to be able to view/analyze my logs in case I need to make a revision.

I'd not trust one review. These products are made and shipped from China. Tactrix is very well supported and has thousands and thousands of logging hours and flashes under their belt. Moreover, Tactrix is located in San Francisco, likely making support simpler.
