The Access Port isn't really EM, it's just a tool to flash your car's OEM ECU. The computer that controls your car is still identical, just some of the files are changed. There are several different methods of writing new files to the ECU.. ECU Flash, for example, is free. So is Rom Raider, which can be used to construct a map and and datalog. There is also ECUTek which has it's own set of features, but you have to buy a license to use it. The Access Port is easily the most expensive method of flashing the ECU.

If you're asking if there is an option that comes with an included map that is specific to your car, the answer is no. What ever method you choose to use, you will still want to have a professional tuner make a map that is specific to your car and its mods.

I have a shop in my town that does cobb custom tunes do you think I could get out of buying the ap and just go to them and have them do it with their own. Or would I have to buy my own and have the custom map saved to my ap? If I did both it'd be around a grand but for just their custom tune I think it's around 3 or 4 hundred

Talk to your tuner about OpenSource tuning.

An AP can only be used on one car. No one is going to just give you an AP to put the tune on your car, and if they kept the AP they used on your car they would never be able to use it on another car.. so I doubt they would be willing to do that. APs aren't exactly cheap.

You can get an OpenPort 1.3U cable for around $140 that can be used to tune an unlimited number of cars, but if the tuner you're going to go to only does Cobb AP, then you have to buy an AP (obviously). I would imagine all Open Source tuners will have their own cable, so you wouldn't have to purchase anything.. other than their time.

After kaykayrug is finished, is there gonna be much demand for it? I'd definitely sell it on the cheap to one of my local boys, but I don't know if the market will have been dried up here lol.

I don't know. All I know is it's been a while since anyone from Philly sent me logs. I was more being facetious and looking to throw the "turtles ****" comment out there...
