New Tune Installed - 21.1 lbs of boost peak

I just received an update to my latest Torqued Performance tune today and did a datalog run. While accelerating full throttle in 2nd gear I have seen my highest boost peak yet, 21.1 lbs! My question, is that too high? Datalog and map using Cobb AccessPort. When I did the suggested datalog pull in 3rd gear, 2500-6500 rpms the highest boost was 19.06 lbs at 3800 rpms. Running a stock turbo with the following mods:

    2013 WRX Hatchback
    AEM intake
    AVO intercooler
    Cobb Downpipe
    Factory Mid-Pipe
    Nameless Exhaust w/5" mufflers
    Mach V 3 Port EBCS

The datalog numbers look okay, I think . Opinions needed.

What boost pressure is Eric targeting? This would be a question for him.

I'm sure he has a number he wants to dial in but hasn't shared that with me .

My question to those in the know, is 21.1 lbs of boost too high for our stock WRX turbos? Never seen anything over 19.2 lbs prior and want to be sure that boost spikes above 21 lbs is safe.

Not at all. IHI does not release their compressor maps, but the TD04 (which is a smaller turbo) can be run into the mid 20 PSI range with supporting mods.

The key here is your intercooler. The AVO intercooler has <1 PSI of pressure drop. The stock WRX/STI intercooler has approx a 3 PSI pressure drop across the core. This means that at the MAP you will see 2 PSI increase in effective boost per actual turbo HP outlet over the stock intercooler. The VF52 has plenty capability to run 21 PSI.

    Agreed.

You just don't want that thing pushing 20lbs of boost towards redline. It'll be out of it's efficiency range after about 4k RPM at WOT or so and should be tapered towards ballpark 15psi.

He's not. At least from the datalog posted, Eric's tapering him to 16 PSI by 6000 RPM.

Sounds good to me then. My apologies for not checking out the data log.

I have an issue, or not to sure if it's an issue. But I'm only stage 1, and my stock spt Guage says I pushing 20lbs. But that's as high as it goes Guage numbers wise.
I get open sourced by a guy in Florida. He does a bunch of soobies where I'm from. I feel when u go stage 2 with his tune. I'll need an aftermarket bov, otherwise risk leak in the stock one. Which I've herd is good until 21 or so.
Assuming my stock gauge is reading correctly.

    1. You should really start your own thread.
    2. Datalog to see if those numbers match what your gauge is reading.
