    Torn Between EM Options

Lets try this post again, with more collected thoughts.

    Source 1 - Cobb's AccessTuner Help pdf

Interested in this system or proper logging of things, and I think that I should probably have gauges monitoring things before any tuning at all.

Along with few other threads and stickies. I'm interested in hearing some opinions on those that have learned to tune themselves; I feel pretty good after getting only halfway through the COBB guide that I could reproduce that. Is it actually as straightforward as I feel? Are there hidden pitfalls that can totally wreck shop unless you know what they are beforehand? Of those that do tune, do you tune your AP with the Race/Pro software, or do you tune via an OpenECU option, and why? I've read through the various Cobb vs Other threads so technical specs are negligible; I'm wanting to hear what pushed you to or from either option enough to pull the trigger on the other.

    Thanks in advance, folks!

Oh, before I forget, I just spent half an hour googling and came up empty for anything close to Northeastern Oklahoma, which is where I'll be in a year and a half or two. At that point, I'll be almsot required to know how to tune myself, so may as well start now, when I know its already got an acceptable tune on it and I've easily got other methods of transportation should I end up needing to get a new ECU.

I'm an OpenECU guy. I got into tuning when I was disappointed with the way a tune came out from one of the big name shops in the country came out (even after they "fixed it"). I don't use ATR because I don't have an AP.

And that makes 3 for the OpenECU, and 1 spammer. The odds are in your favor.
