    Determining ECU mods

    Hello there!

I bought this 02 wrx and when i took it to the dealership to be checked out, there scan tool couldn't connect to the ECU. which leads me to believe there is some form of EM. i have searched for any form of piggyback system and it appears the stock ecu is there. is there any visible imperfections that could be tell tail signs of a modded ECU other then pulling the map. i haven't decided to go Tactrix or cobb yet on that.. haha

    thanks for the imput!

Is the exhaust modified yet no CEL is present on the dash? If so why?

If there are no mods present now there is no way other than examining the map of which I am aware to tell definitively whether the car has been remapped. Maybe someone else can chime in with an idea.

I am pretty sure any form of ECU reflashing will still allow the OBDII system to function normally. My bet is either on of the pins is bent or push back in the OBDII port.
