I know there are a bunch of posts about the cobb AP vs Open Source, but from what I have found it seems like the information is outdated? I have seen that Cobb can't do data logging (which I believe it can now?) and you need a tuner to tune it for you.
From what I can gather with the AccessTUNER software this gives you essentially open source capability with cobb support? Is this true? Also how hard is it to learn AccessTUNER?
Okay so for any other noobs this http://www.romraider.com/RomRaider/HowToUnderstandKnockControl sums up the other ROM raider post so a quick read over this first then go into the other rom raider thread posted on here... I still am quite confused I'll have to re read that in the morning.
Also to clarify when timing is "pulled" does this mean the ignition of the spark plug is retarded? Also as for me tuning this map what does that entail?
No offense but you are severely lacking some basic fundamentals. You have a LONG way to go before you should even attempt to modify any of the ROM tables. You could very easily end up with a (insert value of car here) paperweight.
Yeah donkey you are right lol where else should I look to find info?
The cobb guy said that my data logs were pretty bad and that I should remove my spt intake right away. What should I do? I think I'm gonna go to tactrix anyway because its cheaper. But should I just try to sell the spt intake?
Yeah you right are I'll put the stock box back in. So do you think I should stick with the Cobb ap then?
Based on all the responses thus far, replace your intake to the stock unit and the appropriate Cobb map, and go visit a reputable local tuner to see: 1. Is the engine ok? 2. Is the compression alright? 3. Then check the Cobb tune is alright to run the CURRENT state if mods with a stock intake
So I have decided to return the Cobb ap and am actually buying a new laptop with that money lol. I can't see spending money on a Tune that doesn't even run that great. Yes I know there was a problem with the spt intake but I still think I can get better results from a pro tune.
I will be doing more research into open source tuning (much more) before I look into tuning my car myself.
