Accessport version 1 questions...

I have the chance to purchase an umarried version 1 Accessport and was wondering if anyone out there is still using them? If so, are they still worth it? Or should I just save my pennies for the version 2? Thanks a lot guys!

Yes, in my opinion it's well worth it... If all you want to do is flash a OTS map on there and put it away and only use it for changing RT maps, check cells or boost... The features on the v2 makes it better, but it depends if you want to use them or not whether it's wort it... Oh, you do know that the APv1 is vehicle year specific...

do you have an 06 or an 07?

they didnt make v1's for 07 so i dont want you to potentially waste money on an AP that wont work.

if you have an 06- i'd say yes depending on how much you're getting it for. (i probably wouldnt pay more than 100-200) the basic functions are the same. the v2 is just a lot fancier & has more features.

Ive got an 06 and apparently this is for 04-06 WRX/STi. Its being sold for 300, was hoping to talk him down to 200-250. Think thats too much?

its not compatible with your car.

only v2 AP are engine compatible (2.5L 04-06 sti & 06-07 wrx's)

you should tell him that before he sells it to someone who wont be able to use it.

the one he has either works for 04 STi, 05 STi's or 06 STi's, not all 3.

Ok. But he has and has used it on his 06 WRX. Am I missing something here?

i'd say so.

are you sure its not a v2?

v1s are year, model, & transmission specific.

the only exception are bugeye v1's. you can use them on 02 OR 03 models.

04 sti v1's will only work on 04 sti's.
05 wrx v1's will only work on 05 wrx's.

This is true. The original AccessPORT for the 2002-2003 WRX is the same unit. Every year past that is year, model, and transmission (where applicable) specific.

For instance, a 2003 WRX original AccessPORT will work on a 2002 WRX, but a 2005 STi original AccessPORT will not work on a 2004 STi.

ok I get that, but if you look at the user manual on Cobb's website, the 2006 user manual says 04-06 STi/06 WRX. Is there a way I can check that it will work before I hand over my cash?

Yes, the USER guide is good/the same for all those models but NOT the APv1...
