I read the title and assumed you meant because a fast car in N.J. would get stole in a couple days.
This is a discussion on Is it me, or is it impossible to own and drive a fast car in N.J. within the Tri-State forums, part of the Regional Discussion category; I don't use my car as a daily driver. I only take it out once and a while on sunny ...
I don't use my car as a daily driver. I only take it out once and a while on sunny days when I have time. I don't speed around much, and never street race. No matter where I go in my rex i get what I call the "police escort". I drive past a cop and he starts following me, usually for miles. I've never been pulled over in my rex, but I've been followed more times than I can count. If I even think about getting on the gas a little there is always a cop around the corner to give me a dirty look and follow me. I went on vacation down to Cape May and Wildwood last week and brought my rex with us. Every time I went out for a ride I got a police escort. One ride I took over to Wildwood resulted in me getting followed all the way back to our driveway in Cape May. I am not a young kid nor do I look like one so I can't blame it on that. My car isn't very loud, and isn't very wild looking. I drive my P.O.S. Saturn wagon back and forth to work every day absolutely flying the whole way and never have a problem. When I drive my Toyota pickup on 32's with an obnoxiously loud exhaust I never have a problem.....only when I'm in my rex. I read all these stories in WVTW about people racing all over the place, racing from a roll, from a dig, taking it up to 100 or even 120. It seems like most people race all the way through 3rd gear, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't that over 90mph? How do they get away with it all the time? I can't even drive my rex without getting followed by a cop. After I got followed home down in Cape May, I was so pissed I parked it in the garage and didnt drive it until I took it home. Ok.....rant over...
P.S. Does anyone know of a closed course around Jersey that I could actually take my rex out on and open it up?

I would love to, but me and my clean license are to nervous to do it. I would like to find a closed course that I could have at it on.Originally posted by PPMotorsports

It's kind of a hike, but they're supposed to be building a new roadcourse in Millville.

Yeah the cops are especially bad along the coast when the sun goes down. My job has wacked out hours and if I go along the ocean to work after midnight they shoot out of their cubby-holes and turn on their headlights and zoom up to me. Of course my cruise control goes on after shifting into 5th to keep the exhaust note low, and I creep along around 1,500 rpm while they follow me all the way out of town. Just after a sigh of relief I get followed again in the next town!![]()
This state sux if you have a fast car!![]()
An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You would never see an ‘Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order’ sign, just ‘Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience.’ - Mitch Hedberg
what do you mean it is "marked"

probably that since the rex and sti's are stolen at such a staggering pace in north jersey the police run the tags to make sure the pilot behind the wheel belongs there.![]()
