    Talking Beat a Speeding Ticket

    Got paced.

    60 in 45.

    Went to court, no cop.

30 mins into session, no cop, getting excited.

35 min into session, in walks cop, damn!

Up to this point EVERYONE is guilty, damn! (hangin judge)

Name is called, I walk up, "how you plead?"

    "Not Guilty."

    Cop describes the pull over.

Judge: "Do you have any questions for the officer?"

Me: (feeling sheepish for trying something I read about on the internet). "Yes please."

Me: "Officer, do you have the calibration records for the speedometer on your cruiser or any other documentation proving the accuracy of that speedometer?"

Cop: "Ummm (leafing through papers) it was calibrated in January but has been consistently testing accurate ever since."

Judge: "Officer, do you have documentation of those tests?"

    Cop: "No your honour"

Judge: "The defendent is free to go."

Me: "Thank you sir" [poof, i'm gone!]

People in gallery smirking as I walk out. Priceless.

This happened this morning. Dialogue is paraphrased but as accurate as I can be.

holy mackerel, let the good times ROLL!!!

I only glanced at it, but that looks like excellent advice!

    Congrats on your win!

Great story, man. Show those 5-0's what's up...

Anyway, I hope I have that kind of luck. I'm going to court on Dec. 4th because I got pulled over... originally, the cop pulled me over for speeding, but as I was giving him my documentation, I couldn't find my insurance card. After about five minutes of shuffling through documents, the cop told me that he would come back, so he went back into his car to write the ticket. I found the insurance card about one minute later, and I presented it to the cop when he came back.

He replied, "Son, I let you go for the speeding violation, but I did write you a ticket for failure to exhibit documents (NJ 39:3-29)."

I said to the cop, "Here's my card, I just couldn't find it in my glove box."

He said to me, "Well, you didn't have it when I asked for it."

I replied, "Well, here it is officer."

He then asks me, "Would you rather have a speeding ticket that is expensive and carries points or this ticket here?"

I didn't know what to say... he said, "I don't have time to argue this with you... the fine is on the back of the ticket."

The fine turns out to be only $44.00 (no points), but I think I'm going to go to court with my story. They can't get me for speeding, and I have proof of insurance. The fact that the cop was impatient is not my problem...

Again, I hope I have your luck, man...

um... i wouldnt do that if i were you. If you were speeding, then the cop did u a big favor, so i would take that ticket and be happy. I do not think you should view this cop as a bad guy, unless you weren't speeding. If you were not, and u got a dumb ticket like that to make it seem that the cop wuz 'nice', then go get em! But if you were speeding, there should be more cops like that one

That wasn't a very positive comment.

not too sure w/ PA. . but in jersey, they can't get you on speeding if the cop didn't document it (i.e ticket). This is what a prosecuter told me. I'm not too sure in pa . .but if you think about it. . how will the court have proof that the cop pulled you over for speeding besides the pig's words. There might be some other way to have proof, but nothing i know of. hope this helps. . good luck on your court date.

    i agree with Hassassin, dookiebob.

don't go to court and cross that cop.

44 bucks, no points is a gift!

if that cop remembers you he could go hard next time.

OR, he'll just remember not to be cool to people anymore.

seems to me that karma-wise (sorry to get all new agey!) you oughta pay.

whatever you're talking about Notorious I don't know 'cause I don't hang out at I-Club anymore.

    too many a$$holes there.

might that be why you do?

You guys are too harsh. You start making all these ridiculous comments without a clue as to why I posted that comment. Anyway, I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with a bunch of people over something that's as unimportant as this.

Dookiebob already got my opinion on this when I posted on his thread on the I-Club, so he knows what it is. If he doesn't agree with what I think he should do, then he needs a basic course in common sense and decency. From the way he explains the story, the cop displayed both of these during their encounter.

    Have a nice day!
