Did you fail because the inspector pointed out that he did not see a catalytic converter when they drove the car over the cameras/mirror? Or did you fail the OBDII test? If the latter, it is a relatively simple matter of creating an O2 simulator.

    ^this.

Its easy to get past NJ emissions. I went catless once on my last 05 STI...but my midpipe had a resonator that they thought was a cat. My custom Stage 2 map had CELs for catless disabled, so I was good to go with the OBDII test.

Otherwise throw a stock DP on, flash back to stock and drive conservatively...get emissions done and passed...go back and put catless DP back on...flash your custom map back on...**** bitches...profit.

I'm assuming it was a visual test, I don't have a CEL so I passed that. First inspection station I brought it to called it out immediately, second one didn't say anything but still failed me. Don't have the stock dp as I bought the car modified already

Search the classifieds...you can find stock downpipes for under $100 easily.

Who'd you buy the car from anyway? If it was any kind of dealer, they are by law, required to sell a car that passes emissions. If they sold you the car as is, then it should be on them to make it right.
