    I am looking into one of my first mods and I really like the black housing of the older WRX's from this gen. Does any one know if that housing will direct swap in place of the newer alteza ones?

    Yes, it is a direct swap.

    As opposed to just outright buying them for whatever ridiculous price that Subaru is asking, you could try to see if anyone would want to trade 11s for your 13s. Only other option, and probably the best/easiest IMO, would be to take yours off and open them up and just paint them. If you do a search, you'll be able to find DIY instructions for it.
