Not trying to defend any of the ass-hat drivers, but I know a few of my LVSE buddy's skipped the meet at the park and cruised right to the brewery. So I'm hoping that the LVSE'ers that I saw at the park were more responsible. I haven't seen the video though, so I don't know which cars were being idiots. By the time I got to the one stop that we made a right at, I had only seen one guy hang a left and leave the group (reason for my confusion).

As far as the group not staying together, I did notice that people didn't really understand to try and leave some space between cars and try and keep the group together. I know the guy who was behind me in a ~2011 wrx was right up my ass the whole ride...new generation of subaru drivers...

have you ever been to honda meets im surprised ppl dont die....................

its cool have fun enjoy the car but safety first guys!!!

AND as well as half the ppl didnt know where they were going trying to keep up between the stop sighs and letting random cars drive so slow beteween our group and the fact that everyone in back or split off was very antsy get back up and it kinda became a circle next year group leaders of smaller groups will mostdefently will make it safer and more controlable

all and all was a great fun day nice cars nice day good food no cops and looking forward to next year

As far as the cruise. there has to be some kind of planned route for people that dont the area.(like actual directs not just saying which way we were going. because i forgot all of 5 seconds later since i dont know the area) the whole front of group was bumper to bumper and get to stay together. everyone in the back got stuck at red lights or stop signs, traffic. and had no idea where to go. I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS A REASON TO SPEED. but when everyone else disappears and you dont know where to go your obviously going to try and catch up to the group so you can stay together. its not like the back part of the group dropped back so they could fly and speed around on the back roads.

As for the video i didnt even notice the stop sign or i would have cut it out. as for how fast the car in front of me was going how can you tell ? luckly for me im too low to be able to whip it around turns.

i personally think the fun run should have been split up into maybe 1-3 groups. with a 1 staff leader leading each group. it would have been easier to stay together and not get lost. because honestly i like the idea of a fun run but i disliked it. in an area and roads i dont know trying to follow other people that have no idea where they are going. then getting lost twice because i lost the group did not equal a fun run for me.

Darn I wish I didn't miss this. I grew up in this area and know the streets like the back of my hand.

I 100% agree that the back of the pack always ends up running harder to catch up, especially with so many people not knowing the area or how soon it is to the next turn. without running CBs, this many cars don't have much of a chance to not get split up without speeding to catch up. I'm not suggesting CBs for such a short meet, but groups of 20 are hard enough to keep together without any sort of communication between them. I really don't think you want more people than that in a group. of course, now you need more people to help run the front and back of each pack, but you are well beyond what can be reasonably run in a single pack without communication IMO. Even with CBs, groups of 40-60 got to be too much for the 48hrs of Tri-State Charity Drive I do every year. Their big rule about keeping the car behind you in view is crucial because if everyone does that, the lead car will eventually have to pull over if the back gets stuck, and no radios are needed...of course, pulling over can be pretty tricky on some of those roads.

The fun runs can be very much fun. As noted elsewhere in this thread they have gotten far too large to manage effectively. I'm all for breaking them up into 2 or 3 groups. The trouble is getting people to step up and take that on. I'm open to any and all ideas as I really want to keep this fine tradition going.

I'm involved with a local group of enthusiasts who do these types of runs every few weeks. We just had a 2 days event in NEPA with 40 cars, a total of 200+ miles. Everyone has route instructions, a radio, and respect. The key, as said earlier, is to keep the car behind you in sight. Some events, especially the night time events, get broken into smaller groups with leaders. One important note tho, this group has card carrying members that pay $70.00 a year to do these for insurance. Non-members pay $5.00 per event.

I'm in no way knocking Bill and company on what goes on at these events because they have always kicked much ass, I'm just throwing my input in because the Victory Meats are growing. As the meat gets longer and harder, things can get messy.

sounds like a great idea and im sure your group does well with those strategies but collecting funds from everyone and the organization of buying supplies and distributing them is where it gets alittle moar involved.

and yes, "As the meat gets longer and harder, things can get messy. " hehe

I didn't mean it to say that the meats need to be run that way, I was kinda just throwing out what we do and some of the ideas might be implementable. I know that out of a group of 25 enthusiasts, 4 people will have a set of radios or someone might have access to printing a bunch of Google maps out for people. Man, do I love meats.

We have tried radios - the ones people have brought were no where near powerful enough.

    Thank you the input Marcellus.

I brought one one year and let JR and someone use them...but I don't know what ever happened to them. These particular ones did work though...

You never got them back? None of the ones I was given to try worked very well.
