    free third party vehicle inspections

Hey guys, my dealership is actually doing 100% free check ups on used Subarus you may be purchasing privately. If you are looking at buying a Subie privately, get in touch with me and I will set it up with our technicians. Again, we will check the car out for you free of charge. No catch at all, a great deal as this would usually cost you $110. It does have to be a Subaru though. We are located in North NJ. Contact me if you are interested this is not meant to be a free for all to check out your cousins civic etc., just a benefit for CLUBWRX members only.

^^ Good stuff. I'm on the West Coast, but it's good to see dealers arranging these sorts of things.

Thanks, yes it is good practice to take care of the true diehard Subie fans... Plus our service dept. may get some business out of it in the long run so everyone wins.

Ramsey Subaru is actually where i went when considering buying an STi. although the dealership only had a WRX and an STi which i was told the manager owned, a nice salesman i believed named Cory let me sit in his STi. after i began my drive home, i knew that was the car i wanted to walk outside and get in everyday.

Also, i have a dented in back left door, i went to this dealership to get an estimate/get it fixed and they directed me to a body shop they send their cars too. i assume this body shop would be the most trusted with Subaru's nearby and thats why Subaru sends their customers there. but does anyone know if this may take longer or quicker, etc. 2nd, i assume a new door needs to be ordered possibly back quarter panel, would a shop let me bring the car in, have them order the part but i keep the car until the parts come in, then i bring it back and they install. id assume i would need to ask and it depends on the body shop, but maybe someone knows for sure.

Depends on the shop. I know some shops don't like it when take the car away while parts are waiting. They typically like everything to be in one spot because parts don't always come in at once so they can work as they come. Plus they usually begin the prep work early so that's another reason why you just leave it there. Get a rental or use a spare car you may have around. If you want the job done right, leave it there. The time for it to get fixed is a variable. It all depends on the number of cars before yours. Can't tell you how quick or how slow over the internet.

On a side note, have you done any research in body shops in your area. I wouldn't just take the dealerships word for what shop to take it to. Poke around and find one that best fit your needs. Just because a Subaru dealership solely uses one body shop, it doesn't necessarily mean they are "great", do some research and you'll find a shop that's right for you.

okay thank you for the help and suggestions, i will jsut leave it at the shop and use the spare jeep wrangler we have, hate that thing tho, going from a 6 speed sti to a 5 speed rubicon is horrible hahaha

as for body shops go, ill do some more research, my dads friend (our insurance agent) said theres a body shop next door to his office, which is also good because the check for the repairs was for 2 grand and i think i need a new door and quarter panel witch i would expect to cost more. so if anything goes wrong he walks next door and figures it out. but i will do more research in the mean-time. i think im gunna send her away monday =[

Well with new cars having the quarter panel be practically the entire back end I doubt they will be giving you a new quarter panel. They will like do a lot of body work on it using bondo etc. depending on the overall damage. I had a Jeep Compass when I had my car in the shop, it was definitely different but my car was getting fixed so I took whatever I could get.

FWIW we use that body shop because they accept payment on a 90 day schedule not because they are the best in the world... they are not a bad shop and they do quality work, but the pay plan is our sole reason for using those guys. I personally asked them how much for a driver quality repaint on my MR2 turbo and was told "at least $5200" so needless to say I would not use them.... Now if insurance is paying thats another story

okay, i was just wondering, thanks for explaining. I'll end up letting my dad bring it where he's brought his cars over the years.

and just for the record, it WILL be covered by insurance. (my friend hit my back the 2nd night i had it)

i almost hit him in the nose but then realized i had called the police to report an accident and didnt want them arriving while he was on the ground bleeding (im 6'2" 280 pounds, my friends 5'10" 130 pounds, it wouldn't have ended nicely)
