If resetting the ecu cleared the codes and lights I would say you are fine. You do not need a boost controller if the car is not heavily modified.

If your friend told you to reset the codes without reading them first, he's a moron and should never be listened to again.

You should have gotten the code pulled so you know what the issue is. Any other mods?

    +1

Why didn't you read the codes first to see what they were? What mods do you have done to it?

Ignore anything your friend tells you, he clearly doesn't know what he's doing there.

The overboost code mentions the wastegate.

Next time it happens, make note of the P#### value.

Why would you put these mods on without a tune? That's generally the code that pops up on untuned cars. tune it

Worrying at this point does nothing. You don't have the exact code, so no one can tell you what the issue was. If/when it happens again, make note of the P#### value as I said before. Otherwise, don't lose any sleep over it...

Why do you bother posting about this code when you aren't tuned? Get your car tuned then if you have a code pop maybe you have a legitimate issue. Or you can keep overboosting and break your engine. This guy had a new short block put in on an aftermarket warranty company. Went home threw on a turboback, intake and a boost solenoid. I can only imagine no tune. BOOM
