Smile A HUGE thank you to Welsh Subaru and their outstanding service department!

After the recent Koyo radiator install I took the WRX to them for a coolant flush and refill today. I do most everything to the WRX myself, but prefer to leave that task up to those who can properly dispose of the old coolant and happen to have Subaru coolant in stock. They also know the WRX better than most garages.

Long story short: there was a complication that I caused during the radiator install that led to a series of unfortunate events on my way home. I called the service department and told them what happened. Chris the service advisor and Sean (Shawn? not sure of the spelling) the technician went way out of their way to help me resolve the issue with minimal fuss and bother. I would have never expected the exceptional effort they put forth to make everything right, even though I was the root cause of the problem that arose.

    Amazing.

Buy your next Subaru from them. Get your coolant flushed and refilled, etc there.

Nice to have a good reliable service dept; I wish I could say the same. I've given up on both Subaru dealerships in my city as well as a local "Subaru specialist". Like you I enjoy working on my car, but that doesn't always....or approaching seldom...fits into the schedule anymore.

I seem to read more bad than good about dealer service departments. This has been a good one from the time I bought the car new 7 years ago (3/30/2004).

It's not the first time they were very good to me, but this instance was above and beyond all expectations.

A good dealership service department is a great find! I've had best luck at one over an hour away, with 4-5 other dealerships that are closer, but it's worth the drive.

There are some pretty decent techs there. My experience before I worked in the business though wasn't as raving but then again Joe doesn't work there anymore. I had a huge groove in my cylinder wall on my Rs and a couple bad rings consuming 3 quarts every 1000 miles. Joe tried telling me my intake was causing this massive consumption. I took it to A&T subaru and got my car fixed. It's good to hear they are changing their ways.

Yes, I've only had good experiences with them (with one exception that had to do with scheduling, and I think the guy/kid that did it was brand new to working there).

Between Welsh and Phoenix Racing, I'm extremely lucky to be so close to such great Subie shops. Bob Stanley is the rep who sold me my car and I was very happy with his honesty and communication.

Can't say I've had good experiences with Phoenix as well. My cousin paid a pretty penny to get tuned there and his ewg wouldn't open. They basically sent him on his way telling him his af's looked good and he put down 350whp or something like that. At the end of the day he had his mbc run the way the ebc should have been run but most good tuners would have caught that pretty quickly. Guy also admitted to only tuning stock turbo sti's since that's all they race and never really dabbled in bigger turbo's. Makes you feel pretty comfortable in dropping around $600 bucks to tune your car huh.

I'm making the drive (~1.5 hours) to a shop that I trust for some service next week. Take the day off work, go for a drive, watch a car or two on the dyno as I wait, drive WOT all the way home.

One of the Subaru dealerships in my city has 2 very, very good master techs that are highly sought after. The rest of the operation is fully and completely disorganized so I've given up on them.

I'm sorry to hear that. I didn't even know they did tuning there. I've had a CV boot repaired, an alignment, and rear, boxed ELs installed there without any issues. I've had my eyes set on Agile when I eventually get my tune.

That's where he went after to get a real tune. lol. Guy did an awesome job. Shame he had to waste his money first.
