Well don't you think that's a little unfair to you that they put a bunch of miles on your brand new car?

On the other hand, I would take buying the car with 150mi over paying another delivery charge.

if you plan on keeping your car let's say, until it has 100k on the odo, the 150 driven to get the car to the dealership is .15% of the miles driven on the car during its life. no big deal.

To me its how it was driven. Drive it down to me with a responsible employee behind the wheel and I'd end up giving in. But the test drives? Hell no. If something doesn't set or break in property during that .15 percent then that could affect the longevity of the car

i made sure that the sales manager himself was the person who would be driving back after the dealer trade. i know it was him b/c he sent me a bunch of pictures from his cell as they were taking all the plastic off my car before he drove it. either that or he sent some poor lowly employee from the dealership WITH his phone to pick up my car...

Yeah, I hope it was a level headed employee that wasnt out joy riding in it. I think probably he wasnt but who knows. At least it wasnt 30 5-mile test drives. Much worse for the car I can imagine.

I was on a cruise when my car finally came in (I figured out beforehand that it was scheduled to be delivered while I was gone), so I asked my salesman to lock it up so no one would joyride it. He had it tucked away in an unused bay at their body shop, so no one could even touch it!

I came in 7 days later, and the car had 6 miles on the odometer and everything was perfect!

    Thankyou Everyone..
I called up the dealer and asked him to give me the Ododmeter reading as of today. It was 10 miles. Now I know that it cant be any more than that in a couple of days.
Thanks again for clarifying my silly concern.

    congrats man!

i felt the same as you and didn't want anyone touching my car. Fortunately i was able to get over to the dealer within a couple hours of the truck arriving.

mine had 4 miles when it arrived at the dealer. 5 after they took it for fuel. lowest mileage of any new car i've ever bought! 2 days later, i'm at 180mi i love this car!

I would avoid deliveries. It only took 3 weeks for my delivery. just personal preference. I also never let them wash the car, they always scratch the clear coat w/ those damn spider web scratches b/c the donkeys use crappy sponges or mitts. they think i'm crayz buy f'em. I think it's ridiculous that they can't truck the car to the lot instead of letting some idiot, like I was when I was a teenager working at a body shop, drive cars from lot to lot. My friend's dodge charger has a max speed recorder to know how fast they drove it during the transfer - 81. not bad. I think I had 10 miles on the car.

    72 miles within 5 hrs

I drove 72 miles after taking delivery today and I just love it.
A world of a difference between my toyota Matrix XR and my WRX.
It is kindaa scary to see that you can reach 45 mph in 2-3 secs when you are taking off from a signal.
But the mileage seems to average 16.8 mpg (atleast that is what shows on the guage).I am driving pretty reasonably and haven't crossed 65mph so far.Hopefully, the mileage improves eventually.

Calculate MPG manually, then get back to us.
