Hey all,
This is for anyone looking to do a little off roading through the pine barrens. I'm looking for day that would work for everyone as well as possible routes that everyone has enjoyed taking in the past. Once I hear from those interested I'll put up a poll for dates and routes and the pair with the most votes will be the set date. Sound good to everyone?
====UPDATE=======
The route has been made, I just need to make sure it's passable this weekend. It should run about 1.5-2 hours total and is entirely off road except for when we head to http://www.picalilli.com/ when we are done.
Once I make the ride this weekend and make sure that everything is OK I'll post up a map of the planned route for everyone to take a look at.
===SECOND UPDATE===
The Date has been set for the 9th - weather permitting.

I would be interested in this. How "off-roading" is it? Like rally armor and stuff or just dirt roads?
edit: Also, would this be a problem with summer tires on? like if done when it gets a bit warmer?

I went out yesterday(my car is stock) i'll post some photos of the route I took, it's all sand and pretty much there's parts where it isn't a problem and then there are parts where if you're going to fast (recklessly) you'll have issues with bottoming out in some spots, if you are going an intelligent speed you are fine. The road I started on was certainly more lifted 4x4 centric and there were places where the sand was a pretty loose and then later on I got to a 'main' road that was 'very' flat, wide (close to 2+lanes) and the sand was reasonably packed. I'm on the fence as far as how bad summer tires would be, some places they would be pretty bad.
Most of these are from the first road I was on (notice how tight it is)
Starting out: One Lane and tight sand:
A tricky spot (I went around all the loose stuff on the right, you can see my tracks)
Could have been bad if I wasn't paying attention and didn't take the path to the right, could have just been really fun though, I'm undecided
Still on the original road, nice tight and level sand again
Probably should have put my tires on the middle, non rut area, i didn't and wound up with a bunch of sand on my front bummer, it was deeper than I expected (duh)
No idea what they were doing because they drove off pretty quick when I showed up
The only shot I have of the main road, nice and wide and flat there are some monster puddles but there's established paths around them from what I found

Yea I was kind of wondering about the summer tires thing too. Its almost getting nice enough to throw them back on, but I know my winter tires would be better through there. Only disadvantage is my winter tires are 16's and my car is about 1/4-1/2" lower with them on.

My winter tires actually have tread(and are 17's) so I'm about 1/2" higher than normal right now. It probably wouldn't be too much of an issue most there aren't too many ruts that are bad/unavoidable from what I've seen. In some places the sand is pretty loose so the summers might run into issues through those spots.
ok, so bring some sort of tires and lots of tow rope lol

I'm definitely in. I'm out in PA now at school, but if we get a set date hopefully I can come back for it.

Would anyone like to put out some date ranges that would work for them? (I basically have free time all the time on weekends)
edit: Keeping in mind snow tires would definitely be preferable
Saturdays are best for me.
