Sounds like this is coming together - and I will be making it. My wife thinks I'm crazy to take a new car off road - she thinking scratches. I'm doing it anyway, but how clear is the route?

The 9th should be the date unless that weather stops us.

OK so my car's been making a bunch of really nice high-pitched grinding metal noises ever since I got my 30K service done sat. I'm not going to be all that surprised if it winds up being sand got into the engine when they replaced my airfilter. I live on the beach so there's always sand in the air.... Until I get it taken care of/ get some confidence back I'm gonna have to say the meet isn't going to happen. I don't want to disappoint anyone but I'm really not feeling up for a jaunt through the barrens with the current state of things.

Damn, that sucks! Nothing quite as unnerving as having sounds coming from under the hood that should not be there. Get it repaired and don't push it until you are feeling good with the fix.

I was looking forward to the ride, so once you're up and running lets try this again. If the date ends up working, though - let us know.

I'll keep everyone posted. Hopefully I'll get it to a dealer by the end of this week and things will be sorted out.

Just got back from the dealer. I'm happy to say my strange engine noise has successfully been diagnosed as a strange engine noise . At the moment they aren't really sure what it is other than it is definitely in the engine and I probably shouldn't drive it too much till they have more time to work on it. They don't have a weekday to check it out till next Monday (the 4th). They want to talk to the Subaru hot-line(I forget what they called it) to see if mega-Subaru has an idea on some tests to pinpoint it before they start tearing apart the engine all willy-nilly just looking at things. I'm really disappointed it wasn't just something simple/known issue they could fix but I understand the test first, rip apart later method.

I'm going to say that the meet is officially canceled for the spring, especially since I plan on taking the winters off easter weekend since we normally don't get any more snow storms after that, particularly since easter is so late this year.

Hopefully we can set something up for the fall/meet up at the rally event they do in the fall through the barrens.

    Sorry guys,

    ~Jordan.

I'll think good thoughts for you - nothing sucks worse than engine problems they have not seen before. Hope it gets sorted out quickly and inexpensively.

Maybe we get this together for the fall - I think it will be a blast.

    Good luck!

Well everything but the windshield and belts are under warranty so if they think i'm paying for something they're going to be pretty surprised when that doesn't happen. I'll let everybody know what they decided the mystery whistling, grinding noise is.
