I hung out with my buddies Justin and Alex who I randomly ran into at the event. Justin had his mega zoom camera and took some pretty good pics. Check em out here.

I got there around 9:30 and stuck around for most of the day. Tons of subaru owners were there which was cool to see and the MySubie customers got to park in the middle.

By far the best part of the day was during the first heat race at the end of the day. There were only 4 (I'm pretty sure) cars out on the track at a time. They broke em up into FWD, AWD, and AWD unlimited (something like that). The unlimited group included folks like foust, mira, and pastrana.

Surprisingly, there was not a Lot of dirt (off road). I was expecting a smaller course and a course consisting of half off and half gravel or tarmac. But there were just two sections that required them to go off road. And no huge xgames style jumps. In the pics, there's an orange VW air born, and honestly, that's the most air they got. Least when I was there. The tarmac portions were pretty awesome though. The unlimited folks got going ridiculously sideways whenever a hard turn approached which made for some pretty exciting spectating.

On the other track (thunderbolt), they had a porsche club event going on so we mad our way over there during the lunch break to check out that race.

I'm looking forward to this weekend's 2nd event and going to the Main event on sunday.
