    I need my car to pass new york inspection. It currently has no cat. If i had one put on the mid pipe would i pass inspection? I bought the car from texas which i guess doesn't require a cat.

    Many cars only have one cat - Subarus have two. If someone doesn't know any better, they'll see one catalytic converter and pass you. Get a Bosal shorty DP (divorced wastegate) - this will remove the first cat in your DP. Either gut the 3rd (free), or buy a catless midpipe and weld a high-flow cat into it (or just get something like the Perrin that comes with one).

    Damn, I missed this thread on both sites! I'll be there.

    400hpWRX, as far as the cat problem goes, you might be able to find a shop to pass you as is. I went to the dealership when I was stage 2 with no cats & they passed me. I went back a year later with the same set up & they wouldn't pass me. It's at the inspectors discretion. I ended up finding a small shop to go to. He just plugged me in, checked my brakes & lights & threw a sticker on. Good luck. See you there!
