I should get off my duff and go check it out as an adult.

Anyone been to the park before? I'm camping out that way this weekend and I want to see the park. Any neat places I should check out?

I went to college there, and was back in town a couple of months ago for a friend's wedding. Your best bet is to take one of the bus tours of the battlefields. You'll get the most out of the experience, and can always drive back to someplace you wanted to see more of.
As for dining, the Gingerbread Man has good food and good beers, and is out by the battlefields. In town is "The Pub" which is right on the circle and has really good food, beer and drinks. The Blue Parrot just off of the circle is also nice.
Not sure how old you are, or if you are married/have a significant other with you, but a walk through the college campus will have great sites, of buildings and co-eds.
There is lots to see, and lots to do, but that's a good start.
