I dont know if I am a fan of the DCCD as much as I am the LSD's in the STI but whatever the case if you see any foul weather at all the STI is a true joy to drive with those features.

I would like to think the DCCD setup also aids in my on ramp entry's but my wrx did pretty good in this department anyway.

Wow! This is awesome. The parts list is what really impresses me. There are a lot less things I need to purchase to do this than I thought. 06 axles and hubs all matched up, huh? Perfection. Congratulations!!

You could re-use the old flywheel & clutch, but you HAVE to have an STI pressure plate/slave cylinder. The STI pull instead of push on the regular WRX's. Since I'm at 50k miles already, I figured it would be a good time to redo everything while the funds lasted.

But yeah, you have no idea how thrilled I was to be able to reuse the stocker axles & hubs.

Since you're up in the High Desert, have you hit up El Mirage Dry Lake bed yet? it's fun for safely practicing top speed runs & rally-style turns

Don't know if this is the same one... but I've hit the dry lake between JTree and 29 off the 62. It's pretty fun, but there's a bunch of dirt trails out here that I hit more often. A couple of them with 2-3inches of the real soft sand on top of hard pack. Those are a blast. I wish armature rallying was cheaper.

Question ... doesn't the STI red line later then the WRX? I ask because he said by the time he is spoiled up and going, he has to shift fast. Maybe it's because the STI shifts at higher RPMS. So regardless of what your tack says is at red line, you should find out what the STI redlines at. You might be shifting too early.

I'm sure the fact the he is running a 20g he probaly is tuned and the rev limited is probaly raised. He is going through the revs so fast because the six speed is a close ratio gear box. You will be shifting alot more going from a six speed to a five speed.

on stock engines... the redline for the 2.0l is at 7k and the 2.5l is at 6.5k

The new 2.5wrx, is capable of reving to 7,000. Subaru lowered the rev limiter because one: the turbo is more than dead, and the other reason the lowered it was for longevity. Gabedude's OS stage 1 map pulls pretty good all the way to 6900rpm. Do I go there? No only once as most of the power is between 3000 and 5500rpm

I shift at 6000, but I did notice that even though redline is at 6.5k the limiter is over 6.75k
