I'm somewhat new to Subarus and I just test drove a 2010 wrx hatch and I really liked it but every time I would downshift or even upshift and let off the accelerator I would hear a terrible clunk. The dealer didn't know the problem anyone have an idea of what it might be?

Were they with you when you were driving? Where was the noise coming from (front, middle, rear)?

No I was by my self and it sounded like it was coming from the front in the middle or kind of by the passenger seat.

Like where the engine / transmission intersect?

Is it right after the clutch engages? Probably the driveshaft

Wondering if it's just the driveshaft shifting hard....try engaging the clutch smoother?
