I just recently purchased a 2015 WRX with the CVT transmission. While in sport mode the "gear" changes seem normal enough but when I am in s# mode the gearing seems really odd and way to quick. By the time I hit 45-50mph I am already in 8. Is this normal?
yes, the cvt in the subaru's have no gears, its all belt driven, so when you change into different modes like s and s#, it sends a signal to the ecu and the ecu commands the cvt trans to crank up fluid pressure and change the shift points. thus why in s# you have more gears that are very short for best acceleration.
