    02 wrx transmission

I need a new tranny! I have been reading and looking through all the posts I can, here and on Nasioc. My mind is blown and I'm really getting frustrated with all the info. I do not know what axles I have. Its a 02 wrx wagon 2nd is gone 5th makes noise and there is always a ticking sound when I'm rolling with or without the clutch in. I need something soon! No place around here to look at it but the ****ty dealership. I need something I and a friend can bolt in. What can I get from wrx or any other car that will go in. forester XT tranny?

Direct bolt in would be to get another 02/03 WRX transmission. Easiest thing, plain and simple. $2k not counting labor. Clutch kit, $3-400.

Assuming you have the original transmission, you have the female axles. In 04 they switched over; so the late 04's have male axles, early 04's have female axles.
